KEY WEST MUSEUMS

Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum – See where one of America’s most legendary writers lived, worked, and played for 10 years of his life. See artifacts and learn fascinating tidbits about Papa Hemingway. Guided tours are available to educated and enlighten you.

Mel Fisher Maritime Museum – This museum features treasures and artifacts from area shipwrecks, including the famous Atocha. The exhibits are eye-catching and interesting, making this a perfect family activity. You will no doubt want to go treasure hunting yourself after seeing this museum!

Key West Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters – This small lighthouse has a short climb to the top, where you can get a panoramic view of Key West. The Keeper’s Quarters features displays, and the grounds are beautifully kept.

Pirate Soul Museum – For pirate and history buffs, this is a must-see! It is an entertaining and informative look at the pirate history of Key West from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is very popular, and a great value.

Heritage House Museum – This museum was the home of the Porters, a prominent Key West family who lived there in the mid 19th century. The Caribbean Colonial-style house dates back to the 1830’s, and features original furniture, antiques, and artifacts from the waters around Key West.

Turtle Kraals Museum – This is the only museum in the world dedicated to the sea turtle. Exhibits educate visitors about the care and feeding of sea turtles, as well as emphasize their conservation.

Museum of Natural History of the Florida Keys – Learn about the environment and fragile ecosystem of the Keys. This museum is part of a dual exhibit with the Florida Keys Children’s Museum.
