Speed Boat Adventure

Venture into the beautiful backcountry of Key West and discover the hidden mangroves, tropical sponge gardens and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. A local favorite, and off the beaten path of noisy and boisterous watersport activities, this tranquil tour aboard 2-seater speed boats will give you a glimpse of the natural beauty of the island and its surrounding areas.

Our Speed Boat Safari Tour consists of up to four 15-foot pistol speed boats travelling together to explore the private sandbar and country mangroves. Be your own captain and guide your boat along the waters as our expert tour guide takes you deep into the backcountry, identifying wildlife and points of interest around Key West.

A One-of-a-Kind Experience

This 20-mile tour is offered three times a day due to the limited passenger capacity. The relatively small grouping makes maneuvering through the mangroves easy and serene, providing little disturbance to the area wildlife so make sure you bring your camera to capture the animals in their natural habitats. The Florida mangroves are home to hundreds of species of fish, birds, crustaceans and mollusks, as well as sea turtles, snakes and even the Southern bald eagle. During the tour, we’ll stop in the National Marine Sanctuary for some backcountry snorkeling so you can experience the exquisite tropical sponge gardens and steal a glimpse at the colorful fish found here. You’ll also have the opportunity to go where only the locals go while walking along the private sandbar. The backcountry of Key West is unlike any other place in the Florida Keys. Because of the National Marine Sanctuary, the area is largely protected from development and tourism, providing a unique view of plants and wildlife that few experience during their vacation to the Keys. Catch a view of the best on Key West by reserving your spot on the Speed Boat Safari Tour.

We do invite our passengers to bring their own water supply for the 2 ½-hour tour to ensure you stay hydrated in the Florida sun. But we’ll provide you with the gear and instruction for snorkeling, as well as instruction on how to operate the speed boats. Passengers who were born in 1988 or after must provide a valid photo I.D. and complete a boat safety training course prior to the tour, which can be completed during check-in for a $3 fee. The Speed Boat Safari Tour departs from the Hurricane Hole Marina.
